Every individual should send to his/her friend two kinds of ready-made food. The food package should be sent through a messenger.

We send gifts of food in order to commemorate the fact that despite the danger of being killed that Jews were under at the time of Haman’s decree, they would still go about outside as if there was no concern. We therefore go out and bring food to share with others and celebrate together.
